I have been authoring and presenting programs for more than 25 years. Each topic I speak on has been the result of a challenge I've recognized seniors, families, or professionals face. By bringing to light the common obstacles they need to address and engaging my audiences in honoring conversations, we all are enlightened, and better able to overcome what's holding us back from living fuller lives.
Whether you're looking for professional engagement and growth, or interested in drawing an audience of seniors and/or families to enhance your lead base, I welcome the opportunity to discuss my current offerings, or create a program around a topic you'd like me to address.
None of us gets through life without being thrust into conversations we're not anxious to have. Whether it's with a loved one, co-workers, a relationship that's been fractured, or simply having to stand our own ground at times. Though some conversations are uncomfortable, there are tools that can ease the pain. Learn how to reframe your mind and message for an honest yet honoring outcome.
Getting rid of things sounds downright painful to most people. Yet I've learned that at some point in life, the joy of gathering becomes the burden of owning. Learn how to change your perspective on accumulations, discover some tools to gradually cull them, and consider the joys of "paying them forward". Lighten your load and live your days to the fullest.
Each of us will face a multitude of changes in our lifetime. Yet most individuals are wired to fear it. Whether we're facing a new career path, a difficult work decision, navigating changing health of a loved one, or any number of moments when our path gets redirected, we need to face our reality. Let's reflect upon how we can become more receptive to adjustments along the way, and learn to embrace change instead of fearing it.
In life we are all faced with many challenging situations. A difficult meeting at work, managing family dynamics, experiencing a health crisis, or being a caregiver are just a few examples. Whether you are trying to help others or want to enhance your own skills, effectively managing situations is all about communication, and it starts with listening differently.
Family stories are all too easily lost as the generations age. I've had many seniors tell me there was nothing notable about their lives. But through a few simple questions, their unremarkable life began to tell a tale of fortitude, resourcefulness, and a resilience that speaks to their generation and a different time in history. This presentation will open the door to reminiscing of your younger years, motivation to write your story, and will have you walking away with a greater appreciation for the amazing life you've lived.
"Humor is mankind's greatest blessing." Mark Twain
There are days, sometimes weeks, where we may have to fight to keep our humor intact. In those times, it's important to remember that humor can bolster morale, deflect loss, soften the blow of pain and lighten the darkness. To persevere in tough times, you must find your humor. In this presentation we will consider how to add more humor and laughter to our days, gain an understanding of how it decreases stress hormones and lessens pain, and...we will laugh...a lot!
Having meaningful interactions with someone with dementia can be challenging, but also richly rewarding. Learn how to follow them on a conversation journey of an unknown destination, and enjoy a richer engagement. Recognize how to prepare in advance for the conversation, and set attainable expectations of yourself.
